Microsoft Research World Wide Telescope

Microsoft ရဲ႕ 2008 ခုႏွစ္ထဲမွာ ထုပ္လုပ္မည့္ New Product ေလးတစ္ခုပါ။ အရင္ Google ရဲ႕ Virtual Space Telescope ကို အံတုမည့္ ပံုစံအေနထားမွာေတာ့ ရွိေနပါတယ္။ ဘာပဲျဖစ္ျဖစ္ Microsoft ရဲ႕ ဒီ Project ေလးဟာ SkyServer ႏွင့္ Digital Sky Survey Project ေတြကို ကနဦး စတင္ခဲ့တဲ့ ကြန္ပ်ဴတာ သိပၸံပညာရွင္ Jim Gray (born 1944, lost at sea January 28, 2007) အား အမွတ္တရ အေနနဲ႕ ျဖစ္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ San Francisco ၿမဳိ႕နားက Farallon Islands ကို ရြက္သေဘၤာနဲ႕ ခရီးထြက္ခဲ့တဲ့ 2007 ခုႏွစ္ January 28 ကေန ေပ်ာက္ဆံုးသြားတဲ့ သူ႕ကို ယေန႕ထက္ထိေအာင္ကို ရွာေဖြလို႕မရခဲ့ပါဘူး။ သူဟာ Database Systems မ်ား ႏွင့္ Transaction Processing Systems ေတာ္ေတာ္မ်ားမ်ားကို ဖန္တီးခဲ့သူပါ။ သူ႕အေၾကာင္းကိုေတာ့ ဒီမွာ Jim Gray (Wikipedia) ဖတ္ရွဳ႕ႏိုင္ပါတယ္။

မ်ားေသာအားျဖင့္ကေတာ့ Google ရဲ႕ Virtual Space Telescope ဟာ Hubble မွန္ေျပာင္းမွ ရိုက္ထားတဲ့ ပံုေတြပါပဲ။ Microsoft လည္း ထိုနည္းအတိုင္းပဲ ေနမွာပါ။ ဒါေပမယ့္ Microsoft က သူ႕ရဲ႕ World Wide Telescope ဟာ Internet မွာ Media Rich (Media Rich ဆိုတာကေတာ့ High-Resolution Image ႏွင့္ High Quality Multimedia စနစ္တစ္ခုပါ) ျဖစ္ေအာင္ Visual Experience Engine ကိုသံုးထားတယ္လို႕ ဆိုပါတယ္။

ဘာပဲေျပာေျပာ ဒီ World Wide Telescope ဟာ Space နဲ႕ Astronomy ေလ့လာခ်င္တဲ့ ေက်ာင္းသူ ေက်ာင္းသား ႏွင့္ ၀ါသနာရွင္ ပညာရွင္ေတြ အတြက္ကေတာ့ အေထာက္အကူျဖစ္ေစတာအမွန္ပါ။
